codiene as a pain relieverusually codiene is already mixed with a pain reliever, like Tylenol. (Tylenol #3 is Tylenol with codiene) to add advil would probably do you no better, and might even contribuite to a stomach ache. But if you already did it, it won't hurt you.

For short periods of time, or as directed by your prescriber, plain Advil (ibuprofen) can be combined with Vicodin (hydrocodone and acetaminophen).

Should you pain worsen, fail to be relieved, or persist for more than a few days, you should consult with your physician.

Generally, codeine is cut with acetominiphin (aka Tylenol). Taking too much acetominiphin can cause liver damage. In Ireland, paracetomal (what they call Tylenol, 'para' meaning 'sorta like' and 'etomal' from 'acetesalicylic acid, which is aspirin, acetominiphin being an aspirin substitue) can not be sold witout prescription in a greater quantity that 20 pills at 200mg each. They even describe 'paraceteside' (chasing a bottle of Tylenol with a bottle of vodka)as being the main reason for this restriction. Any bottle of Tylenol will tell you a safe daily dosage. For an adult, I think it's about 3000 mg but don't quote me. See how much is in the codeine and make sure you're not overdoing it. Remember, there are other over the counter pain killers that work just fine with those; aleve (naproxin sodium) is marvelous stuff and Tylenol is safe with aspirin. Caffeine is known to enhance their function, Ecedrine is a mix of Tylenol aspirin and caffeine.

I had cough syrup with prometh/codeine and I tried acetaminophen with it and I had some wierd seizures but I heard it's commonly used to enhance the painkilling
