Can you mount the oil filter back on the engine block of a 1996 Chevy Blazer?

== == Yes you can... BUT - Why would you...??? The oil adapter plate that has the feed hoses connected to it, is mounted where common oil filter plates are installed... The reason for the re-located adapter is to provide easier access to the oil filter for changes... The adapter plate has (2)-bolts holding it in place near the rear of the block... If you do change this out - Make SURE - that there are NO OIL LEAKS coming from the oil filter plate-to-block area...

In General the Oil filter is on the left or right side of the engine. If you have the 5.7L V8 then it should be on the drivers side, back where the tranmission and block meet.

If the blazer had a v8 in it No if it had a 2.8 or a 4 cylinder Yes if it had a 4.3 engine.

Assuming this is a 4.3 engine, remove the block coolant drain plugs. There is one on each side of the block. The passenger side is towards the front of the block and the drivers side is towards the back.

If you have a V6 the canister filter is located at the bottom of the block near the front of the engine. If you have the 2.5 4 cylinder engine the oil filter is in the pan.

Standing in the front of the engine, it will be on the left bottom side of the engine block up towards the front.

On 3.1L Engines it is on the front of the engine above the starter mounted in the engine block. On 2.2L engines it is above the oil filter mounted in the engine block.

It should be bolted to the engine block anywhere you can put it. Make sure it is on cast iron.

The oil filter is located on the driver's side of the engine block, near the rear of the engine. A good reference is to find where the transmission and engine block/oil pan meets. Also, If you can find the oil pan drain plug, take a look directly up from there, and you should be able to spot it.
