Can you only play Blu-ray movies on a ps3?
You can play Blu-Ray Movies only on a Blue Ray Player and the PS3 is also a Blue-ray player along with a game console. All Blue-ray Players will also play DVDs and CDs and many like the PS3 will upscale them to near 1080P quality if set up to play Blue ray discs in 1080P. My PS3 plays DVDs so much better that I have not used my DVD player since I saw the first DVD play on the PS3.
No it is a PS3 and the PS3 games can not play on a PS2. Only one of the reason is that the PS2 can not read Bluray discs. Another is that it does not have the hardware for the game to work. There is a reason the PS3 costs more than a PS2 even now almost 5 years after it's release and the PS2 will never play PS3 games
well for one every ps3 comes equipped with a bluray high definition drive for movies and also is able to be a Linux PC with only a keyboard an mouse. Right out of the box each is high def ready and can be turned into a PC. Each also has completely free online play included and most have wireless built in.

There are tons of stuff you could do some examples are: Play games (of course) but in SUPER high graphics watch bluray movies (again SUPER high quality movies) play dvds and other stuff go on line on the PSN network and connect with your friends, compare scores challenge others Etc. download demos and buy games of the playstation store
You need a 1080P HDTV and the cable to Play blue-ray in 1080P with your PS3. The cable that comes with the PS3 is only a 480I Audio Video cable and need a cable that will allow 1080P if you have that kind of HDTV. Other cables were not included with your PS3 because they could not know what TV the PS3 would be connected to and they provided one that would allow the PS3…
The HDTV needs to be a 1080 P model for full Bluray and the HDTV needs to be connected to a PS3 or Bluray disc player with a HDMI cable. You need a Blu-ray player or laptop to connect your HDTV. You can try Mac Blu-ray Player which can play all the video & audio formats on Mac OS X and Windows 7 including Blu-ray formats files.
I'm sorry but it cannot. If you bought your PS3 in the US, you can only play DVD and Blu-ray movies that are from this region (region 1 for DVD and A for Blu-ray). What I suggest you do (this is what I do) is download Shrink DVD (freeware..just google it), make a backup of you DVD movie (Shrink DVD automatically removes the region protection) and burn it. Then you can play the copy on…
First most PS3s do not play PS2 games but the ones that did were designed to play many PS2 game titles and a PS2 was not designed to play any PS3 games. They are very different consoles and the PS3 is much more technologically capable than a PS2. The PS3 also has a Bluray disc drive that can play Bluray Discs, DVDs, and Cds and the PS2 has a DVD Discs drive that can play…
