No, you cannot, but with using a hacking device like CodeBreaker, you can enter a cheat code to play as Cloud. During normal gameplay, it is impossible to play as Cloud.

You should First play Kingdom Hearts, then Kingdom Hearts 2. Finally, play Chain of memories. -- that's wrong. KH 2 makes far less sense if you havent played chain of memories. Chain of memories happens in between one and two and is sort of like a prologue for 2. The order the story follows is Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories, then Kingdom Hearts 2!!!! Answer First Kingdom Hearts, then Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories, and last Kingdom Hearts II. Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories is what happens in between Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2.
