Can you put a small heat lamp in a parakeets bird cage to keep them warm?

I have a parakeet . The answer is NO!!! It will over heat them or scare them half to death.

All birds will do this to keep warm. When they puff their feathers out, air gets "trapped" within the feathers and warmed up by the birds body heat. It's like a home-made blanket.
