Your parakeets puffs his feathers out what does that mean?

All birds will do this to keep warm. When they puff their feathers out, air gets "trapped" within the feathers and warmed up by the birds body heat. It's like a home-made blanket. If your bird is doing this regularly, make sure their cage is nowhere near a draft or a window which is constantly open, but also make sure they are not in direct sunlight, as extensive heat exposure will kill a bird. You can also invest in a hanging bird bed. This is basically a tunnel made of fabric which is placed in their cage, the bird sits inside it to sleep while keeping warm at the same time.

How do you interact with your parakeets?

If this is your first time or the bird is untamed, take it slowly. Put the cage next to you while you while you're watching TV or reading a book. After a few days to a few weeks (don't rush this), open the cage (please take all safety precautions) and let the bird get used to you. Let him climb around or on you if that is acceptable for you. Offer a few treats while the bird is exploring. Birds love to explore, and always keep an eye out. Good luck! A few basics to when you are doing this or for other events: ~ Don't keep the cage near an air or heat vent. Drafts can be deadly. ~ If you're cooking or applying fragrances, hairspray, etc., don't do it near your bird. Do it in another room or move the bird away. ~ If you're hosting a party, move the bird to a quiet place in another room to make sure they don't get stressed. This can lead to many more problems. If it's at night, make sure you give the bird fresh food, water and cover the cage to ensure that it is comfortable.

Can i put a heat lamp for my leopard gecko's heat source?

Yes you can, however if you have a heat lamp you should get a heat mat (for under the cage) so he/she can have heat at the top and bottom of the cage.

Puffed up parakeet is sitting on the bottom of the cage. What's wrong?

seems the bird is sick, is he in a draft? does he have food and water? Be sure to keep extra warm and use a heat lamp if you have one. also give a drop or two of orange juice, this will raise his metabulism. hope this works be sure to cover cage.

How do you cool down a reptile cage?

You can add a dish of water to the cage for the animal to bathe in. Most reptiles do well in the heat, they are cold blooded so their body heat is regulated by the ambient air. Cold is feared more than heat for reptiles.
