Drain the water from your 1997 Chevy Monte Carlo cooling system. Remove the water supply hose. Remove the thermostat housing retaining bolts. The thermostat will lift out. Reverse the process to install the new thermostat.
Look where the thermostat is attached to the intake manifold
The 3100 Engine (code M in VIN.#) motor has a 4T60E Transmission. The 3800 Engine (code K in VIN.#) motor has a 4T65E Transmission. Hope This Helps you, Brett
It will fit into any GM product with a 3.1 front wheel drive.
no, you can only swap a 96-98 Monte Carlo 3100 transmission, i am having the same problem with my 95, you can only swap a 95 with a 95....96 through 98 are interchangeable. pontiacs have a different bolt pattern on them anyway.
Look on passenger side of radiator about 6 inches down on the side its right there.
I just had my intake gasket changed on my 99 Monte Carlo for the same thing. My cousin is a mechanic and has changed the same gasket on several cars with the 3.1 engine. The gasket is about $60 - $75 plus labor.
