The gear boxes are not the same size so you will have an issue with the propeller shaft. All other items can be uesd, the kick-down switch, sensors etc. You will have to replace the propeller drive shaft with a shorter one.
the switch is usually located in the tranny near where the shift linkage goes into the tranny
There''s an o-ring in there. Probably needs a new one.
It wouldn't hurt to try putting a new speed sensor in it. Its not hard to replace. It is located on the side of the tranny. It runs around 20 bucks. If that doesn't work then you might need to get your tranny looked at Sounds to me like the kickdown band is worn and the linkage inside the trans for it has fallen off. You will most likely need an overhaul.
on firewall passenger side if you have a big block (beside kickdown relay if you have a 400 tranny)
kick down cable to down shift tranny on your throttle linkage may be broken somewhere down the line if not then try changing tranny fluid and filter if filter is dirty they don't like down shifting at all .................if it backfires right after you try to get it to down shift then its just getting too much gas and isn't in the rpm range to take that much fuel
You need to determine if it's a stuck tranny or a linkage problem. Set the brake. Get under the car and remove the linkage end from the tranny. If the tranny can be shifted by hand from here then the problem is in the column. If it's still jammed take it to a shop for repair as it is beyond the scope of this page to explain how to tear down an automatic transmission. Tranny cooler? sounds like bs to me. But the kickdown is something this car has a problem with. I recommend going to multiple mechanics and ask for a quote.
The th350 tranny was not stock to the car, rather it was a 700r4. Either a new kickdown cable is needed for the conversion or adjustments made to the existing cable.
Its on the tranny where the shift linkage attaches
call dealer for price and avaibilty.........
ce faci? sunt andrei
it cost 1500 dollars to replace my tranny at the local tranny shop
