Why does your MP4 say no free space when it is new?

It likely needs to be formatted. Most MP4 Players need to be formatted to FAT32 (or FAT16). If you format them to NTFS in Windows XP, they may show you an error that indicates no free space (which would require a FAT32/16 reformat to remedy).

Which commands would be used to convert drive D from fat32 to ntfs?

How do you change hard drive settings to accept more than 4gb of file at a time?

The way a hard drive is formatted affects the largest file it can store. The file size limit of FAT32 formatted hard drive is 4GB, to increase this you would need to format your hard drive and make it use NTFS. Formatting a hard drive erase all the information on the hard drive! There are ways to avoid this, but I suggest you either get a new hard drive or get somebody to format part of your hard drive for you unlesss you know what you are doing Open an administrator command prompt and type convert x: /fs:ntfs where x: is the drive letter of your USB drive typ convert /? from more information

How long can a flash drive hold data?

It depends on how large the flash drive is, and how large the files are. Take the size of the flash drive in GB, divide by the average size of the files in MB, and multiply by 1000. So for example if you are storing photographs that are 2 MB in size on an 8 GB flash drive, you could store approximately 8 / 2 x 1000 = 4000 photos ========== It also depends on the file structure in use. Most flash drives come pre-formatted with either FAT32 or exFAT - although most of them can be re-formatted to use other file structures. Both FAT32 and exFAT allow some flexibility in the size of the clusters used. Since storage is allocated by cluster - with enough clusters allocated to accommodate each file, the maximum number of files is also limited to the number of clusters. As an example, theoretically if you had an 8 TB flash drive (wouldn't that be sweet) formatted with FAT32 using 32 KB clusters the maximum number of files would be 268,173,300. For smaller total capacity and/or larger cluster size, the number of files will diminish proportionately.

You have 2 Hard Drives 1 is WinXP the other is WinVista. The Vista OS one will read the XP HD. but the XP OS won't read the Vista HD. Why is this?

It is possible one is a different format. The FAT32 File system can only recognize drives 32GB and under, Windows XP would normally install with a FAT32 file system if the drive was small enough. Windows Vista however does not. In any case it uses NTFS, which stands for "New Technology File System". If the other drive is formatted with NTFS and above 32GB, then the Windows XP would not be able to access it, or even see it.

What is the maximum size for a USB Flash drive in Windows 98?

The only real limit that would apply is the FAT32 partition size limit, which is about 2 TB. No Flash drive comes close to this size.

Does formatting c drive delete the operating system?

If your OS is installed on that drive yes the OS will be deleted but if your OS is on another hdd then the OS wont be deleted unless you format that other drive. if drive C: has your OS and everything else on it and you format that it will all removed nothing will be left behind. But say you had Drive I: with your OS on it and drive C: with all other data on it and your formatted drive c you would not remove the OS unless you formatted drive I:

Why when im putting files into other hdd it show recycle bin shows file is too big?

I would assume, that your other disk most likely was formatted in old system something like FAT or FAT32. Try formatting the disk in NTFS.

What drive letter is normally used for the first primary partition on a hard drive?

Most of the time it is "C" the next drive letter in line would be "E" If you recently reformatted a single hard drive it will be "C" if you have another already formatted hard drive in your computer or you have a second partition it would be "E" So, unless you changed it, it is going to be "C".

Why won't my PS3 recognize the files I add on my usb flash drive?

You have to format the flash drive so it is compatible with the ps3 You can not add some files using the USB drive If they are games and add ons they must come from the Playstation store Maybe if you were intelligent, you would have stated what format the flash drive should be in....it is FAT32

My friends flash drive is 2 terabytes and it wont configure to the new xbox how can I get it to configure?

your friends flash drive is not 2tb. more likely it is a 2 gig flash drive, and i would imagine the xbox doesnt like the format of the drive. try hooking it up to a laptop and formatting the flash drive. fat32 or ntfs will work. good luck.
