It is generally not advisable to shoot slugs through a full choke, although people argue about this all the time. Personally I use IC choke for Foster slugs. Sabot slugs are designed to be used in rifled barrels only.
You can but it proves a little dangerous. But the biggest factor is that the lead slug squeezes through such a small hole it deforms and your accuracy goes to crap.
Further more, Google says the 5510 was before steel shot and not to use. BS. I have a Belgian auto 5 from 1957 that states on the barrel. Steel shot only. Just saying. Do your own research .
Yes you can. I own one.
You can, but I wouldn't advise it.
Yes. Rifled slugs are intended for smoothbore barrels (abot slugs aer for RIFLED barrels). Best accuracy with rifled slugs is USUALLY a modified choke, but can be safely fired thru any choke less than EXTRA full choke.
Yes. Exercise caution. Do not attempt with a full choke.
no
no you cannot. sabot slugs are made for rifled barrels. I would buy a rifled slug barrel.
If you see spiral grooves when looking down the barrel, then it is rifled.
Answer the glenfield by marlin is compatible with marlin 120 12ga barrels are available for the 120 the only difference is the stocks wich are also interchangable the 120 is higher quality I love my glenfieldThat model is obsolete and you are not going to find a slug barrel. If you must use slugs, you can have the existing barrel modified to accept interchangeable choke tubes and use a rifled tube when shooting slugs.
Rifled slugs may be safely fired thru MOST shotgun barrels, The makers of some variable chokes recommend that slugs NOT be fired thru them, and turkey guns that use the Extra Full choke aer not usually recommended for slug shooting.
Death and distruction. Not a good idea at all....
I would not say it is recommended but I think it is okay if the barrel is Cylinder Choke. If there is a choke to the barrel, I'd advise against it.
The 12 g Marlin 200 single shot shotgun SHOULD be marked on the barrel, something like "model 200 12 g 3" Modified" That means it will fire the 3 inch magnum shotshell, and has a modified choke. If you have a shotgun marked 2 3/4, do NOT fire a 3 inch magnum, even if it will chamber. The forcing cone will not have enough length for the shell to open, and it will cause unsafe high pressures. Every 200 I have seen (a limited number) WAS chambered for 3 inch Magnum shells.
