Taking expired antibiotics enables the pathogens (bad bacteria) to acquire resistance against that antibiotic and all antibiotics that use similar mechanism to kill bacteria. It can be dangerous if the bacteria you have adapts to the antibiotic, rendering it useless so discard expired antibiotics.
