In the Catholic Church, if you haven't attempted another marriage without the previous marriage being determined to be invalid and are not living with someone that you are not married to, you can.

∙ 12y agoCatholics do not 'take' communion, they receive communion. If you are simply divorced, there is no problem with receiving communion. The Church does not recognize divorce and considers you to be separated. However, if you remarried it is a different story. If you did not receive an annulment of the first marriage, the Church considers you to be living in adultery which is a grave sin and you are forbidden from receiving the sacraments until you regularize your marriage status with the Church.

∙ 14y agoSince there are people who are divorced through no fault of their own (spouses who did not seek or desire divorce), it would be unjust for the Church to consider all divorced persons guilty and unworthy to receive Communion. However, those who are divorced and remarried (or otherwise engaging in romantic relationships outside of marriage) are not permitted to receive Communion, since they are committing adultery in the eyes of God (cf. Matthew 19:9).

∙ 13y agoYes, if you are baptized Catholic and made first communion, you can receive communion if in grace (received sacrament of penance) after divorce.
But if remarried, you cannot receive communion, technically.

∙ 13y agoThe Church does not recognize divorce. If the person has not remarried (and thus committing adultery) he/she can receive communion. To remarry the person would have to seek an annulment through the Catholic Church.
