It is generally not recommended to take expired medications. Tramadol, a prescription pain medication, can be particularly dangerous if taken after the expiration date. Here's why:
Potency loss: Over time, medications can lose their effectiveness and may not be as potent as they were when they were first manufactured. This means that expired tramadol may not provide the same level of pain relief as it did when it was fresh.
Safety concerns: The chemical composition of a medication can change over time, which can lead to the formation of potentially harmful substances. Taking expired tramadol could increase the risk of side effects or adverse reactions.
Risk of overdose: If the potency of the tramadol has decreased, you may be tempted to take more than the recommended dose in order to achieve the desired effect. This could increase your risk of overdose.
It's important to follow the expiration dates on all medications, including tramadol. If you have questions about whether it is safe to take a specific medication, you should talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

∙ 13y agoI am not so sure about expired acetaminophen, but think of it this way, drug reacting with air, namely water in the air. What would happen if you have a slow hydrolysis reaction on ASA? You simply end up with part SA and part acetic acid....so yeah, ingesting acetic acid (concentration <25%) means you are eating vinegar lump.

No, you cannot take two tramadol 50mg instead of one for pain. It is important to always take the correct prescription from a doctor.

You should only take pills together that the doctor prescribes. A pharmacist or your doctor will be able to determine if the medicine can be taken together.
