You can take it, but it's best to space out the doses. If you take them at the same time, the abrasiveness to the stomach can be too much.

In most cases you will get heartburn of some sort--you CAN'T take any antacids. Also, don't lay down for about an hour, as the doxycycline will dissolve in your throat and you will have way more problems than just an infection or heartburn!

Yeah you can take them together. I just got off the phone w/ a pharmacist at Walgreen's b/c i couldn't find my answer online. She said the only thing I really needed to worry about was becoming very sensitive to sunlight while I was taking the medicine.

I had a bad reaction when I took them together. I was sweating, had a rapid heart beat, weak, & shaking. I didn't read the warning ahead of time but it did say not to take the two together.

Yes, you can. I've just been prescribed trimethoprim. My doctor said that I could take pain killers with the medication if I needed to. I take ibuprofen as a pain killer and specifically asked if I could take it with trimethoprim, and he said yes.
