Most antibiotics can be taken concurrently with antacids, with the exception of two classes of drugs. Fluoroquinolones (Cipro, Levaquin, Avelox) and tetracyclines (Sumycin, Doxycycline, Vibramycin, Minocin) can bind with antacids and be less well absorbed , up to 50% in some cases. The best advice when taking these antibiotics is to avoid calcium or iron containing meds OR FOOD (milk, cheese, yogurt, vitamins with iron) and take the antibiotic at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after the food/antacid to allow adequate absorption.
No results found - however, this does not necessarily mean no interactions exist. ALWAYS consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
You should always check with your doctor before taking over the counter products with a prescription.
Tums contains calcium carbonate which is known to absorb medications as well as prevent their absorption. It is usually recommended not to take preparations like this until at least an hour after or two hours before your prescription. Some medicines may require more or less time or may be contraindicated altogether, so please ask your doctor what you should do.
You can. Although it's often advised never to take them with antibiotics, clarithromycin is one of a group of antibiotics that are unaffected by Tums (it's just simpler to tell patients never, as they don't usually know which group their antibiotic is in).
If you go on a different antibiotic in the future, don't take it with Tums without checking first.
can i take tylenol and clarithromycin together
Yes, but since Tums is an antacid, they need to be taken two hours apart to keep the antacid from interferring with the effectiveness of the Claritin.
Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and Claritin (loratadine) are both antihistamines and therefore should not be taken together. Singulair may be taken with diphenhydramine or loratadine, but not with both.
call the doctor's office and speak to nurse
can I take Claritin and Nyquil together
can you take ceftin and claritin together
Flonase and Claritin CAN be taken together but make sure you read the directions for both and aren't taking any other medication that can counteract the effects of either medication.
Since Claritin-D contains both loratadine and pseudoephedrine combined then common sense tells you that you can take both regular Claritin and Sudafed together with no dangerous interactions (but not Claritin-D as you would be then exceeding the recommended dose of pseudoephedrine).Or you can simply buy Claritin-D and save a few bucks.
Yes, they are considered safe to take together. There are no significant drug interactions between Claritin and acetaminophen. Tylenol (acetophenimen) is an over-the-counter analgesic and fever reducer (considered safe when taken as directed). Claritin is an over-the-counter antihistamine (considered safe when taken as directed).
