yes, you can touch it. But, as with all wild animals, for the health, happiness and well being of the animal, you should leave it alone and appreciate it with your eyes only. NO you can't "sanitize" it!! To do so could be toxic for it! As for yourself, if you touch it, just wash your hands before (remember you have germs too) and after.
