I would say in about 2 weeks when they get their hair so that way the mother wont mind as much when you do touch them. Reason why they are older and the mother just slowly stops caring and lets them fend for themselves.

∙ 10y agoYes, Syrian Hamsters are known to abandon and even kill her pups if it is touched by a human hand. This is why they are separated at 2 weeks of age from their mother so they can be handled and sex'd. Other hamsters though possibly most abandon and let it die if touched, I have gotten this information from a vet. as I am breeding my Syrians so i needed to know
