Can you use a 230 volt plug in a 240 volt socket?

If the blade configuration is correct for the receptacle then yes.

Additional Answer

If you are referring to British sockets, then, as the nominal supply voltage is now 230 V, not 240 V, the answer will of course be yes.

In Britain the nominal voltage is 230 v but the actual voltage has not been changed from the original 240 v. Mine is 242 v at the time of writing.
