YOu can NOT use the newest diaper genie refills on any of the old designs. They are too small and will not allow you to twist them, thus every time you open the Genie, you get to smell it.
The Diaper Genie was created in mid 90's as a diaper disposal system. The soiled diaper is placed in the Genie and the lid is then twisted 3 times, causing the odor to be sealed in the canister.
The Diaper Genie will not accommodate adult diapers. The opening isn't wide enough to fit them.
The most popular diaper pail, the Diaper Genie, costs around $25-30.

You need to buy a kit such as those that fully reset the ink cartridge such as <a href='http://www.vividinkproducts.com/Departments/Refill-Systems/HP-364-Refill-Systems.aspx'>Ink Genie</a> for example
Between $20-$40 depending on where you buy it and which brand you buy. However, I would save your money. I bought 3 over the last 30 years, but with a few months we were using them like any other diaper pail (i.e. not buying the expensive plastic sleeves that you twist). Just by a diaper pail.
