Can you use a starter off of a 1987 2 9 v6 bronco II to replace the starter on an 1992 ranger xlt 4 0 v6?

The starters will not interchange. The starters do not align with the bolt holes and flywheel.

the starter is on the front of the transmission and it only has two bolts holding it and then there is an electrical wire that plugs in it. It is really easy!!! I have a 1987 ford bronco and I changed the heater core in about 15 minutes. All you have to do is remove glove box and there is a panel with a few screws around it. and there you go.
