I'm pretty sure it would be a NO considering vtec engines have camshafts specifically made for high rpm use(when it kicks in). normal cars cams aren't different from low to high rpm. certain Honda's switch camshafts from low cam to high cam when vtec is activated

What engines can you use in place of a D15Z4 without changing wiring ECU etc?

You can use any d15 series motor as long as it is not vtec. But also it isn't to expensive to switch to a d15b vtec motor you just need vtec ecu and wiring harness that can be found for about $100 on eBay. I switched my car from d15 non-vtec to d15b vtec for about $650 including the price of the motor.

Can you make a ls non vtec into a ls vtec?

Yes you can. You can either use your LS block and put a Vtec head on it or you can just swap it out with a GSR or Type-R motor.

Can you put a b16a2 in a 93 Honda Del Sol?

Yes, a B engine will fit into a 93 but you will need to convert the engine mounts for it. The easiest way is to get the mounts for the 97 VTEC trimline as this is the motor that comes with that car. Make sure you also use a compatible transmission and ECU

Can a legacy engine be put into a impreza GL and use the ECU out of the impreza turbo?

Yes, the engine can be installed and bolted up. But-- use a turbo ECU with a turbo motor, and a normal ECU for a normal motor. There will be small differences between the cars regarding wire harness install, and small emission bits. Try to preserve as much of the original configuration on the car as possible-- that is what the ECU is expecting.

Can a 2004 Acura RSX vtec motor fit in a 95 Honda civic dx?

of course dude!! first need to buy wiring harness adapter, that let you connect same ecu and use same engine wiring with no hassle, just plug an play, and motor mount bracket adapters from EG6 d or b series to a k series swap, and you are good to go.

Will a 92 Honda Civic motor fit in a 98 Honda Civic?

This depends on the motor you're looking to swap. if you have a d series motor it will fit without modification, but you may need to run a vtec wire if you don't have vtec and the engine you're swapping in does. but if you're 98 civic is an si then it won't work without different mounts, axles, ecu etc. but I'm guessing you just have a d series. Edit by SmokeShank: The motors physically are interchangeable just like mention aboved. Dont worry about the SI, because they did not make the civic SI in 1998. Your 98 civic either has the D16y7 motor (non Vtec) or a D16y8 motor (vtec). They best thing to do is match the motor if you have vtec or not. If you have vtec, a 92-95 D16z6 motor is what you need. If you have the y7, a 92-95 D15b7 will work. The problems you will need to sort out is that your 98 civic is an OBD 2 vehicle and the 92-95 civic is OBD1. This means you will need the obd1 computer from the civic, a wire harness adaptor (Rywire.com), and do some reworking with the harness around the intake manifold. You could use the OBD1 engine harness, but they are different. The obd 1 harness plugs into the chassis harness on both shock towers in the OBD1 civic. Your OBD2 civic engine harness goes directly to the ECU. Unless your familar with doing engine swaps, and converting cars from obd2 to obd1 and vise versa, then i would just stick with the current engine you have (D16Y7 or the Y8). I could take a guess and say your looking for an engine because of an Oil issue. The Y7/Y8 motor has notorious issues for the oil system. When doing your timing belt/water pump maitenence, I'd recommend putting a new oil pump in just to be save. Spinning bearings is becoming more common with those motors.

What makes the motor shut off at top speed?

Most vehicles today use a rev limiter. Some use a fuel shutoff. These are controlled by the ECU.

Can you swap a 1996 Ford Mustang motor with a 1998 Ford Mustang motor?

Yes, you can. That is a relatively easy swap, it helps to have the ECU (computer) and transmission from the donor car as well. It is best to use motor mounts that fit the body instead of the motor however.

What is the best d-series to turbo?

you have many different options when it comes to this, you can go d15b7/d16 vtec head (this is a Frankenstein swap where you put a vtec head on a non vtec block), or d16 vtec, or single or dual cam Zc its personal preference, but do not go for the non vtec motors such as d15s and certain d16s research use wikipedia it works the best to find this information
