Do you have to have baking soda in homemade pancake mix?

Well id depends on what kind of pancakes your making. If you don't have baking soda and you already started on the mix you should have gone to the store before and bought some. Although some reciepes don't have the ingredients I would have to say it's not mandatory.

If you are making buttermilk or sour milk pancakes, you need baking soda.

Otherwise you only need baking powder.
