No - you need a passport if you are flying.
Your SS card is not to be used as an ID card. It's only purpose is to show you and prospective employers that you have a taxpayer ID number. You will need the birth certificate to obtain a passport.

To board a commercial flight in the USA all adults must present acceptable photographic identification for check-in and for pre-boarding security screening. A valid driver's license or passport are the most commonly used photo ids. Check with your airline or the homeland security web site for all the details.

∙ 10y agoIf you're a minor, yes. Otherwise you'll most likely need a picture ID. It doesn't have to be a drivers license, a state ID will work just as well.
