Mine can. If you have kept up with routine maintenance, yours should be able to as well. If you take good care of it, a Hyundai Elantra is good for as many as 300,000 miles or more.

I have a 1998 Hyundai Elantra and had the rotors replaced, you will have to have a shop to do it because they have to be pressed off and then back on again with a specialized machine or tool. Of course unless you have that tool you can do it yourself. Good luck.

On my 2000 Hyundai Elantra, you can access the license plate lights from the outside. You use a flathead to pop out the right side of the light, twist the back end (where the wire comes out) and the part with the bulb comes out. Pull it out, slide the new bulb in, retwist it into its container and pop the light back in place. Repeat for other side. Cost me $3 for the bulbs and took me about 5 min to do.
I am referring to stop light located at back window.
