Yes, when they teeth as pups their ears flop, or fold. They straighten up as they get older, usually by the age of 5 or 6 months. Yes, when they teeth as pups their ears flop, or fold. They straighten up as they get older, usually by the age of 5 or 6 months.
Well your average German shepherd's ears should be standing by 7 months, but if your pups ear is not up by then I would recommend ear glue. At a period from 3-5 months German sheperds start teathing, which causes their ears to soften. So with my German shepherds their ears are glued at five months (if they are not already up). With the glue you will start gluing at the base to the tip of one ear then press and hold the ears together for the reccomended time. It is very important to make sure you glue the OUTSIDE, hairy part of the ear. Gluing on the inside of the ear will cause skin irritation and many more problems. When the ears start to get harder, the ears will start peeling away from each other. Also, it is very important to make sure that you are very careful with your puppies ears while they are still young. Watch strangers petting their head and flopping their ears around (makes me so mad) and rough housing with other dogs. Good luck!
There is cropping but it is cruel and painful for the dog and they often wake up crying at the pain.
If your GSD has a 'soft' ear it should be left.
yes i currently have a 2 year old male purebred german shepherd whose ears are flopped over, he is still a great dog and has no medical problems and is currently being k9 trained
yes, it usually straitens out after about a month or so
Yes. A German Shepherd is a type of dog.
German Shepherd Dog belongs to Herding group.
You should call animal control in your town and file a complaint. I would then sue the owner of the German Shepherd IF your dog was on a leash, the German Shepherd was NOT on a leash and IF your dog was not on the German Shepherd's property.I'm sorry for your loss, that is terrible :(
