Can a court garnish both spouses' wages up to 25 percent for a judgment?

yes.but i am sure there will be some calculations on the judges part before coming up with a set amount. depends on the income combined, if you have kids, child support etc. No. A creditor judgment can only be enforced once against one party. The exception would be different creditor judgments against spouses who have joint debts. For instance, the husband's income could be garnished for a debt and the wife's income could be garnished for a joint marital debt by a different creditor. I'm afraid the first two answers are wrong. Judges have little discretion. The amount of a garnishment is determined by the law, not by the judge. The only thing I have seen them change is the percentage of interest. Courts do not care about how many kids a person has. I don't believe child support is exempt, although it would only come into play if the creditor attached your bank account. As for the second answer - It depends on who got sued. If the creditor got a judgment against both of you, then you both can have your personal wages garnished. If you and your brother and your best friend get a judgment against all three of you, then all three of you can be garnished at the same time. Everyone gets garnished until the debt is paid. There is also an "Other Than Personal Wages Garnishment" which is usually the creditor attaching your bank accounts. If you have a joint account then any money in there is potentially available to be attached. It is a gray area and it would be necessary for you to go to court to have the funds returned. But if you comingle your funds, then that money is fair game. My experience is limited to Ohio garnishment law. Hope this helps. Barbe

How are funds wired from one bank to another?

Say your bank is B1, and the bank the money is coming from is B2. B2 has to ask permission from B1 if a wire transfer is acceptable. B2 then has to send the account information to B1. Account info is: account number, and routing number, Clients full name as it appears on the account, verify that the name on the account matches the name they have. Then when all verification has been approved they receive a direct deposit in the form of a wire transfer. The bank must also have the receiving bank's physical address and phone number. It's like sending a western union, without having to worry about the extensive paper work, or the extreme fees. Sometimes banks do charge a wire transfer fee, it just depends on the kind of account you have. Wire transfers are safe and accountable. If something happens it is traceable. There is always a paper trail.

Is there any possibility of cash not coming but only receipt coming in icici ATM?

Yes, it is very well possible. There are cases where the ATM machine due to a technical glitch gives you a receipt for withdrawal but doesn't dispense the cash. It happened to me once too. You need to call up customer care and raise a complaint reg. this. The bank will verify the ATMs transaction and cash history and if they are able to verify that cash was not dispensed but money was debited from your account, they will revert the transaction and credit the money back into your account. This will usually take 10-15 days.

How is checking account different than a savings account?

A checking account is typically used for the active transfer of money, whether this is money going in (as in a paycheck) or coming out (withdrawals, purchases). Meanwhile, Savings accounts are typically used for putting money in without necessarily withdrawing money out. Savings accounts pay you interest, while few checking accounts give anything at all- in fact, many checking accounts charge a monthly maintenance fee just to use them. Of course, withdrawals and transfers from a savings account are limited by law, while checking accounts have no restrictions on the number or types of transactions.

Deposits go on debit column or credit column?

Debit the account that is receiving the cash and credit the account that the cash is coming from. Because debits always equal credits, every transaction (including a deposit) must have equal debits and credits. For example, if you are depositing $100 received for a sale, debit the checking account and credit the revenues or sales account. If you are depositing $100 that was received from a customer to pay off an accounts receivable, then debit the checking account and credit that customer's account in accounts receivable.
