Yes and no. When I worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield we HAD to take this insurance. It was only like 20 dollars a month but we didnt have a choice. I now work for another company who offers health (which I still took) but at the same time if you were to decline their health insurance they would pay you $1000 and you were SOL if you later decided you wanted to take it (until the next enrollment period. ) Hope this was helpful. Can you cancel your spouse's health insurance during a separation in Maryland?

That would not be a very nice thing to do, what you should do is write to your spouse and the insurance company, point out that you are now separated and indicating that you will no longer be paying for your spouses insurance after a fixed date in the future. This informs the insurance company of your intentions and allows your ex spouse to arrange their own health insurance.

Can an insurance company deny health benefits to a spouse if they are employed?

Typically, if a person is insured under a company's group insurance plan it is up to the company as to how much of the premium the company wants to pay toward the employee's insurance. If the employee has a spouse it is also the choice of the company as to how much, IF ANY, the company will pay toward the spouse's premium. The company is not required to pay anything toward the cost of the spouse or children. In many cases, the spouse and children. or more precisely, the employee him/herself. must pay the additional premium.

Do you have to take your employers health insurance or can you remain on your spouses health insurance under the new ObamaCare?

You will have a choice between your employer's plan and your spouse's plan. Your employer may ask you for proof that you are covered by your spouse's plan. Your employer's plan will want this, in order to ensure that people are not dropping out for other reasons (such as they can't afford to join).

Only one company can pay out on the health insurance so it is a waste of money being insured twice, and also it will save you the tax you are paying on the premiums.
