Best Answer
Li+
Basic information: Protons are positively charged and electrons are negatively charged. The charge of one proton cancels out the charge of one electron. The atomic number represents how many protons are in the nucleus of an atom.

If the ion has more protons than electrons, then it will be positively charged overall. If the particle has three protons, then the atomic number is three, and the element is Lithium.

Protons have a +1 charge. Electrons have a -1 charge

Look at a Periodic Table.

Li has 3 protons, it is the only element with 3 protons in its nucleus. It also has 3 electrons in the shells outside the nucleus. If another atom has a stronger attraction for that 1 electron, than Li does, it will pull the electron off the Li atom. Now Li has 3 protons, +3, and 2 electrons, -2. Which adds up to +1 . It is a +1 ion. Li+1
