The only way to clear any emission code on an OBD II vehicle is with a scanner. Disconnecting the battery won't do it. An OBD II vehicle is any vehicle sold new in the US after 1996.

If it is the rear sensor, it will be in the differential. If it is a front sensor, it will be located at each front wheel.

The fuel tank evaporative sensor is located on top of the fuel tank. The tank will have to be removed before the sensor can be installed.
I believe it is on the back of the header/manifold. There are two of them on some Escapes.
The bottom end was worn through where I can see the magnet and some metal shavings. A new one was installed and about 1/2 hr later the vehicle stopped running again. this was the third sensor in less than a month What is wrong?
Follow the flow of air from the air cleaner to the throttle body. You will see it.

the crank sensor is located behind the main accessory drive pulley which is installed at the end of the crankshaft you have to remove the pulley and the plastic cover that covers the timing belt
