Earths outer most layer consits of the crust and uppermost mantle and forms a relatively cool, rigid shell called the lithosphere. This layer averges about 100 kil. in thickness. Beneath the lithosphere lies a soft, comparatively weak layer known as the asthenosphere. The lower lithosphere and upper asthenosphere are both part OS the uppr mantle.

The lithosphere is essentially the Earth's crust, going down to 80 km below, with two types of lithosphere. The asthenosphere is at depths between 80 km and 200 km below the surface of the Earth and is the weaker, deeper, and the hotter part of the upper mantle.

The lithosphere consists of the entire crust and the uppermost mantle and forms Earth's relatively cool, rigid outer shell. Rocks get progressively hotter and weaker with increasing depth.

The asthenosphere lies beneath the lithosphere and it is softer and weaker. In the top portion of the asthenosphere, the rocks are close enough to their melting temperature that they are very easily deformed. Some melting may occur, which causes this sphere to be weaker.

Lithosphere: brittle, hard, relatively colder, less dense. (where earthquakes happen due to sudden slips in rock)

Asthenosphere: partially molten, hotter, denser, plastic rheology

Difference: The lithosphere is less dense and more brittle, the asthenosphere

is more dense and less brittle and the lithosphere is made up of hot molten rock.yes me

The lithosphere is composed of rigid rock that fails in a brittle fashion. The asthenosphere is solid, but ductile, deforming in a plastic manner and flowing over long periods of time.

Plates of the lithosphere float on Core?

Plates of the lithosphere do not float on the core. They float on the asthenosphere (plastic mantle). Due to convection currents and the earths rotation, plates glide over the asthenosphere. This theory is the theory of Plate Tectonics.
