When two centrifugal pumps are connected in series the discharge changes by factor of?
Centrifugal pumps in series are used to overcome larger system head loss than one pump can handle alone. for two identical pumps in series the head will be twice the head of a single pump at the same flow rate - as indicated in point 2. With a constant flowrate the combined head moves from 1 to 2. Note! In practice the combined head and flow rate moves along the system curve to point 3. point 3 is where the system operates with both pumps running point 1 is where the system operates with one pump running Series operation of single stage pumps is seldom encountered - more often multistage centrifugal pumps are used. http://nuclearpowertraining.tpub.com/h1012v3/css/h1012v3_76.htm

What is the differences between parallel connection and serial connection in water pumps?
Parallel and series connections differ in their connection to the feed line. In parallel, each pump is fed directly from the feed line. This means that the water going into each of the pumps is at exactly the same state and the pumps may be analyzed individually. In series, the water is fed through one pump, then the exit line from that pump leads to inlet of the next and so on. What determines the setup for a specific application is the desired property of water at the exit. Two pumps in parallel connection can produce a higher flow rate. Two pumps in serial connection can produce a higher pressure.
What is the effect of pump installation in series and parallel connection?
Asked in Heart
Does the heart function as four different pumps?
You could say that, but you could say it functions as two pumps or one. As four pumps the (1)left and (2)right atrium pump blood into the left and right ventricles. Then the Left and Right ventricles pump blood into the (3)lungs and (4)body respectively. Looking at the heart as two pumps, the atriums (L and R) pump into the ventricles. As one pump, the heart circulates the blood in the body.
