When your body comes into contact with any substance that you may be allergic to (such as pollen, dust or even surgical adhesive), it reacts to it by trying to get rid of the foreign particles.

One such method of the body reacting is by producing more mucus to help push the substance out of the body. So it is possible if you are allergic to surgical adhesive to produce more mucus.
