There have been some smaller countries to host the Olympics. In 1912, Sweden (Stockholm) hosted the Games. In 1920, Belgium (Antwerp) was the host and in 1952, Finland (Helsinki) was the host. Today generally large, industrialized countries are selected to host the Olympics due to the large number of tourists expected and the construction of stadiums and venues that are needed for the athletes to compete. "Figure skating was first contested as an Olympic sport at the 1908 Summer Olympics, in London, United Kingdom. As this traditional winter sport could be conducted indoors, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) approved its inclusion in the Summer Olympics program." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Olympic_medalists_in_figure_skating

You could say that China won because they won the most gold medals.

He had recently immigrated from Kenya to Denmark and he needed to become naturalized before he could compete. He had to wait 5 years after he got citizenship to his new nation, denmark, before he could compete for them in the Olympics.

Australia's duet and team did not qualify for the Olympics. They performed in Sydney by default as the host nation, but could not swim at the Athens or Beijing Olympics because they needed higher scores at international competitions to do that.

Women could not be in the Olympics because men ran naked.

Up until 1992 both the summer and winter Olympics were held every 4 years, during the same year. At this point the cost of broadcasting rights was becoming so expensive that the televison networks could not afford biding on both the summer and winter in the same calender year. It was cheaper to move the winter Olympics, therefore in 1994, there was another winter Olympics, only 2 years after the previous one. Since then the winter Olympics have been held every 4 years, staggered 2 years apart from the summer Olympics.

Hopefully it will someday. I could definitely see it hosting the winter Olympics sometime in the future, but I think it has a lot of growing to do before it can be considered to host the summer.

The earliest that could be is 2022. All Olympics up until then have been awarded. Several cities in the United States, such as Bozeman, Denver, Reno, and Salt Lake City, expressed interest in bidding for the 2022 Games, but the USOC is opting to bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics or the 2026 Winter Olympics instead.

At this stage it would be not certain as to which countries will compete. That will only become clear when the 2012 Olympics come closer. A lot can happen in the next 4 years that could determine who will attend them.Answer #2204 countries are participating in 2012 summer Olympics.

It could be the summer Olympics in some where in the world. Or a big race four miles or maybe more. Not rarely so might be two or less.

The smallest dinosaur was Achiornis and could be about 35 centimetres long.

It already did, during the 1968 Summer Olympics. It could do it again, but considering the costs associated with such endeavor, and seeing its meager benefits, Mexican authorities currently think it would be a bad investment -- just see what happened to countries like Greece or Brazil after they hosted the Olympics. So yes, Mexico could host the Olympics, but it won't due to low return of investment.

Nobody "wins the Olympics". People win particular events. I suppose you could say that the country winning most gold medals "won" the Olympic Games. You probably mean the summer Olympics, held in Athens in 2004. The country that won most golds was USA. USA also had most medals in total.

Actually a newt. Its the smallest I could find online.
