Cats and Dogs bodies handle temperatures much differently than people. For instance a cat could lay next to a fireplace and be totally comfortable because of the way they are insulated, its the same for extreme cold temperatures. They dont experience it the way you are probably thinking. Dogs will go into a kind of catabolic state when it becomes cold and therefore maintain a constant body temperature. If you have older pets with joint problems or other general health problems it is strongly advised that you bring the pets in however.
