There are a large number of 1 cent stamps with Franklin. the value is going to vary a great deal based on exactly which one it is. The 1870 Benjamin Franklin was printed by the Continental Bank Note Company. It was embossed with a grill that broke fibers in the stamp paper to more readily absorb ink from the cancellation. The grill is best viewed from the back of the stamp. A nicely used example of this issue runs about $45. The stamp was reissued the next year without the grill and is more common, at about $1.50. One word of caution, the grill is usually faint and only partially applied, so look closely before classifying the stamp as the later variety. Examples of the stamp can be seen at:
