s really can not know exactly what color a foal will be from the color of its parents. There are so many variables to be correct. Usually, the darker color will dominate BUT...genes can override this sometimes and throw you a curve. People have been trying to predict color of foals for centuries and are correct only half of the time. It may be a surprise to you when the foal comes.

A horses father is called a sire, and the mother is called a dam. Also when referring to a foal you say the baby is By the dad and Out of the mom. As an example: ' My horse Duke is by Hercules (sire/ dad) and out of Marion (dam/ mother).'
A female horse is a mare. When you're talking pedigree, the mother is the dam.
The sire. And the mother is called the dam.
in my experience the foal is ussually the size of the sire but that does not mean the foal wont get as big as the dam
Then your foal could be grullo, dark buckskin, black,or prabaly black grullo
The dam is the mother of a foal. The sire is the father.

Mare
A foal's parents are the dam (mare) and sire (stallion).
However, you can veiw the chances of each color with this Foal Color Calaculator in the relatred links. The calculator said the following when I entered in the mare and the stud coats Offspring Color Probability 43.95% - Buckskin 43.95% - Bay 3.13% - Palomino 3.13% - Chestnut 2.93% - Smoky Black 2.93% - Black However, there were options to specify. It asked for Red factor and the Agouti, whether it was heterozygous or homozygous. I did not know these specifics, so I left it as unknown, which is why I advise you go and experiment. See what would happen if the stud was homozygous, or if the mare was homozygous, or if she was heterozygous, etc. YOu can only know with the vet usually....but its unknown...you wont know until the foal is born sorry.
A foals mother is called a dam. a foals father is a sire.
