The camel has a ruminant digestive system which unlike normal ruminants they have three stomachs. Each stomach breaks down foods in different ways (IE bacteria or churning it up). The beauty of being a ruminant animal is that they can swallow food very quickly so they can see predators and then when they are in a safe place they can then bring the food back up and masticate it (chew) and re-digest it.
Camels, like cows, are ruminants, meaning they digest their food over several stomach sections. The cud (or food) is returned to the mouth in a glob, which the camel chews. The chewed food goes to other sections of the stomach, where it is digested completely.
