∙ 15y agoHair is 'hydroscopic', this means hair has the ability to absorb moisture from the air. Humidity breaks down the hydrogen bonds, so if hair has been styled the hair will change from Beta Keratin (unnatural state) back to Alpha Keratin (natural state), causes the style to drop. This is why hair products should be used to act as a barrier, stopping humity entering the cortex. Products contain silicone which coat the hair.
