No, there is no evidence of it. Some Republicans tried to say that voter fraud was the reason Obama won, but independent investigations did not find any proof. (The myth that ACORN "stole" the election was also debunked.) In fairness, when President Bush won in 2004, similar accusations of voter fraud were raised. The truth is that sometimes the candidate we have supported does not win, even if we think he (or she) should have won.

In the case of President Obama, the country had grown tired of Republican policies, and President Bush was very unpopular, even among many in his own party by the time the 2008 election came along. John McCain, while a decorated war hero, did not run an effective campaign, while Obama did. The fact that Obama won is not because he cheated: it was the right time and the right campaign and America was ready for a change. However, in the 2012 election, whoever wins, the losing side will undoubtedly claim that cheating occurred.

No, this is a myth, spread by partisan Republican websites that were very upset that the president won, since they fully expected him to lose. But while President Obama's re-election caught a number of Republican pundits (and by all accounts, Mitt Romney himself) by surprise, there is no credible evidence that Mr. Obama stole the election. It should also be noted that when George W. Bush won in 2004, Democratic partisans were equally stunned and some promoted the assertion that Mr. Bush must have won by stealing the election. Such charges are nothing new, and while there are indeed some isolated examples of voter fraud during any election, there is no credible proof that either Mr. Bush or Mr. Obama won by fraud or treachery.

Not that I know of, but any man who is so full of himself has plenty of potential to take advantage of his personal charisma. Only time will tell.
