Probably not, she was only 47 at the time of her death ( as was Judy Garland). unlike Garland, Piaf was never in movies. She was primarily a night-club and concert entertainer originally in her native Paris. Let"s face it, the tormented bird was among other things a Drug Addict and an Alcoholic. She had (other) health problems but they were fueled by the above vices. There is much mystery about the so-called Sparrow which is what the name means in French. according to a reliable source she was Four Foot and Eight inches in height at the time of her death.
I just saw the biopic about her and then did some research because the actress depicted her as so bent and at one point in the script she says she has arthritis. The research I did suggests she had Arthritis, jaundice, was in four car wrecks and was addicted to morphine and alcohol. She died of cancer (most agree) at 47.
Edith Piaf was 4'8'' which to me is really short!!

I am not sure what you mean. She was petite but in no way crippled or handicapped. She had very small hands- as would be normal for a lady who was only 4 feet 8 inches in height. If you are basing your description on a mortuary photograph- well things happen after death, embalming, etc. I was not aware of this anomaly with Mlle Piaf.
