There is no question in my rather well-educated mind that he had a great positive effect on the US. He defined the modern concept of the Presidency. He preserved the federal union and did much to keep it preserved from foreignintervention, particularly from Britain and Spain and set us up to become a world power. He not only balanced the federal budget, but repaid the national debt .

On the contrary I believed he had a negative impact. He removed the U.S. national bank and caused the Native Americans to migrate from their homeland. He caused a depressionn because he left open so many pet banks.

George Washington has a tremendously positive effect on the US. Without him, it is by no means certain the revolution would have succeeded .
