He was the first vocalist, and the longest staying. He sang in about 6 different albums for Sabbath before going solo. actually tony iommi is the longest staying and black sabbath is still toghether they just dont tour

Full answer...Yes he was, sung on Black Sabbath, Paranoid, Master of Reality, Vol. 4, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Sabotage, Technical Ecstasy and Never Say Die before leaving due to disenchantment. He is the longest-running of Sabbath's vocalists (Tony Martin is second with 5 albums), but Tony Iommi is the only member of Sabbath who's been there all along. Sabbath have now become Heaven and Hell, which is the Mob Rules/Dehumanizer lineup with Dio and Appice.

A bit of both, tensions had been mounting between Ozzy and Black Sabbath for a while. In the end Ozzy walked out on the band and started a few side projects; however, if he wouldn't have quit, Black Sabbath probably would have kicked him out because of the mounting tensions and problems between Ozzy and the other members of the band.

According to the Wikipedia article on Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne once quit Black Sabbath at first because of internal strife. Then he rejoined the band later on. Finally, due to the fact that Ozzy did drugs and was constantly stoned or drunk, Black Sabbath kicked him out and replaced him for the final time. (Poor Ozzy). However, Ozzy went on to a bette solo career.

Kind of both; he quit and came back, but he was disenchanted with Sabbath and Sabbath was fed up with him. Eventually Iommi got Ward to tell Ozzy he was fired.
