Answer:

Unfortunately and erroneously, many have interpreted and concluded that both Enoch and Elijah (some say Moses as well) were taken to 'heaven.' But the Bible simply states in Enoch's case, that God 'took him' and does not specify where he was taken.

When we consider that Jesus said 'the Scripture cannot be broken' in John 10:35, meaning one passage of the Bible cannot contradict another, and that only He has ascended into Heaven as the firstborn of mankind (see John 3:13), then we can be sure that these men never ascended into the Throne of God - highest heaven of three.

Now look to Hebrews 11:5 (chapter 11 is called the 'Faith' chapter by many). "By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, 'and was not found, because God had taken him': for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God." The term 'taken' can also mean 'transferred elsewhere." The NASB version adds "so that he would not see death" Paul tells us that Enoch, like all mankind except Jesus, died:

Hebrews 11:13New King James Version (NKJV) The Heavenly Hope13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them,[a]embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

The same may be said of Elijah (see 2 Kings 2:10-12) who was taken 'away' by a fiery chariot into 'heaven' (our sky or atmosphere). God 'transported' him (and Philip in the New Testament Acts 8:39) to other earthly places. Now the reader should go to 2 Chronicles 21:12-15 and take note that Elijah writes to the current King which is a full Four Years after his being taken in 2 Kings so he had to be alive and well in another earthly spot.
