Did anything positive come from World War 2?

One of the most positive outcomes of the WW II were the elimination of radical regimes from Europe. Post WW II most of the nations in Europe progressed, sans the eastern European countries which fell under Soviet Influence and could not benefit from the economic revival. Demise of Imperialism was also another positive outcome of WW II. However, the immediate onset of cold war after WW II hurt the gains of WW II.

Yes WW2 really did happen. And in my opinion, it didn't have to happen. WW2 and many other issues such as Desert Storm and even 9/11 could have been prevented had the Treaty of Versailles been more about resolving the war, than seeking revenge. They gave no thought to the future when they took everything that Germany had and then made them pay even after that. Nor did they care that they told Japan that they could expand, which they later realized was a major problem. They didn't even care that when they divided up the Middle East, they just drew lines with no reguards as to who they put where. That is why so many groups that hate each other are "smooshed" together in civil war. But more to the question, yes it did happen. WW2 mostly started because the German people were so desperate that they were willing to do anything. And had Hitler not been so tyranical, ruthless, and ant-semetic, some of his ideas would have been great. He killed so many people. They have found huges rooms of records of people that were killed. It was such a nightmare for the troops walking in to free tham. They were skin and bones and some of the camps had killed everyone before they got there. Japanese internment, the Holocaust, Pearl Harbor. It all really did happen. There are still concentration camps in Poland and Germany and one Japanese internmesnt camp left in the US to prove it. There are pictures and family memories. There are books and autobiographies. And yet, there are still people who can't grasp that it actually happened. I don't understand how some people can't believe that it actually happened. I guess it's the world today, if you aren't actually there most people will debate that it even happened till the cows come home. -Natasha

Yes. Some key changes were made immediately.

After the disaster, all commercial vessels were required to have enough lifeboats to accommodate more than the maximum number of passengers. Passengers would be assigned spaces in the lifeboats, and mandatory lifeboat drills would be carried out.

Wireless service on ships would operate around the clock, as would all future methods of ship communication, navigation and positioning.

Shipping lanes in the North Atlantic were redrawn further south to lessen the risk of encountering icebergs.
