When did the Scientist live? George Washington Carver's actual birthdate is unknown, but historians believe he was born before slavery was outlawed in Missouri in January 1864. He died on January 5, 1943.
Where did the Scientist live? George Washington Carver was born in Diamond, Missouri. After his mother was kidnapped, he and his older brother lived in the slaveholders home. When he was school-age, he moved to Fort Scott, Kansas. After witnessing a lynching, he left and roamed the Midwest for the next 10 or so years. He went to college in Indianola, Iowa, but transferred to Ames, Iowa soon after. After college he moved to Tuskegee, Alabama to work at the head of the Agricultural division for the remainder of his life.

What was/is the Scientist family background? Include any relevant important life events? George Washington Carver's father was a black slave who was accidentally killed before he was born. His mother was kidnapped when he was just a boy. When he was at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, a teacher told him that he could never make a living in art because he was black. He transferred soon after.
What was/is the Scientist educational background? George Washington Carver was privately tutored as a child. When he was school age, he went to Primary School in Fort Scott, Kansas. Then he went to Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. He transferred to Iowa State College in Ames where he was top in his class besides discrimination by his classmates. He then was invited to become the head of the Agricultural Department in Tuskegee, Alabama.
What was/is the accomplishment(s) that this individual made in science and/ for a related field?
George Washington Carver introduced the peanut as a cheap source of protein to Southern farmers. He also taught many farmers the benefits of conservative farmer methods and the impact of cutting down trees. He compiled over 300 recipes for peanuts, soybeans, and sweet potatoes. Included in these recipes are peanut butter, some types of soap, and various peanut related products he was famous for making uses for penuts
