This aided in the longevity of life because of the surplus of food. Also, some historians believe the antibacterial properties in tea helped lengthen life because it purified the water (boiling the water also helped dramatically). Edward Jenner also found the cure for smallpox which lengthened life expectancy. This provided a large labor pool for the Industrial Revolution.
