Legal precedent is an existing legal ruling. It comes from case law, or past judicial decisions and cases. Precedent is binding, unless overturned by a higher court. I don't think no lawyer will find Dahmer's case useful establishing a legal case using a principle or rule that a court or other judicial body may utilize when deciding subsequent cases with similar issues or facts unless the lawyer is seeking Life imprisonment in a case were a death sentence is more probable.

Was Jeffrey Dahmer a believer?

In the related links box below, I posted the information. He is a good example of some of the mysterious aspects of faith. There is no doubt that his crimes were among the most revolting ever to come to light. There is also the possibility that his conversion was a function of his circumstance (he was in prison for life and was murdered by another inmate). But the MUCH more important object lesson here is that people of faith realize that when it comes down to the most fundamental question of salvation or damnation, the deity couldn't care less about comparing one human being to others. He will be merciful as he sees fit, (according to believers) and you may be embracing Dahmer as a fellow saint, given that you are among the chosen. It is also possible that some of Dahmer's victims will be among the damned, again not as a result of their actions or inaction, but as a consequence of what believers understand to be the deity's justice.

Legal issue in Jeffrey Dahmer murder case?

Jeffrey Dahmer's trial was anticlimatic. There was literally truckloads of physical evidence and Dahmer's confessions. His trial was for the most part a formality. He was sentenced to multiple 'life with no parole' for multiple murders, but it saved him from lethal injection, which in hindsight would have been a waste of taxpayer's money since Dahmer was beaten to death by another inmate. Hear are some youtube videos of the court room http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14fFJOz2ioM actually, he died 3 years later on nov 28 1994 Jeffrey Dahmer was not at risk for lethal injection or any other form of capitol punishment as Wisconsin did not have the death penalty. The trial itself served as much more than just a mere 'formality'. The purpose for the trial was to determine weather or not Jeff Dahmer fit the criteria of legally insane as set forth by the state of Wisconsin. The burden of proof sits with the defense in such a case. The result of the trial however did not find him to be legally insane by the states definition. He was subsequently sentenced to 975 in prison of which he served only 3 before being murdered by fellow inmate Christopher Scarver.

What information has been collected as a result of studying Jeffrey Dahmer brain?

His brain was removed after he was killed in prison and preserved for study. Dahmer remained shackled at the feet when an autopsy was performed just hours after the serial killer died becuause such was the fear of this man that chains were on the feet, even post-mortem. The autopsy took place at the University of Wisconsin Medical School in Madison. No much was achieved by the study of his brain. It is not like studing a brain when the person is alive and he suffered several head traumas. But the brain has different ways to study the person. Most Schezoid charectaristics appear in Dohmer's handwriting.

What is a percedent?

If you mean "precedent", it means "that which has gone before". A precedent is the way a similar situation was handled on a previous occasion. It can be used as an example and guide to how you deal with the situation before you. For example, your car is dirty and you want to wash it. You remember that your dad always washed the car with a pail of soapy water and an old shirt. As a result you go looking for a shirt you can use to wash the car. That's using precedent.
