Well a lot of people say that it was indeed the Captain's fault and yes it was partly his fault, they got reports of an ice burg siting so he told the crew that they were going off course then he went for a stroll? Or something and a few minutes later the iceberg struck! But the Titanic's metallic materials were not strong enough because the designer bought them off some unknown supplier. Another reason was because the were going way to fast and this was because the wanted to be the biggest, strongest, fastest ship that arrived from Belfast to New York. Some people say that they misplaced there binoculars but, I don't agree with this theory. So yes it was kind of the Captains fault! But I would agree more on human error
It depends How you look at it. In some ways It was Loads of Conspiracies Joined toghter like The SS. Californian not responding to the Titanics Stress Flares. Its actually told that Captian Smith Helped a child when they were drowning onto a lifeboat.
Somewhat. Despite the iceberg warnings, he fell for Bruce Ismay's decision to arrive in New York a day early and retire with a fortune. But people also thought that lifeboats weren't needed since the Titanic was designed to stay afloat with a maximum of 4 watertight compartments breached (hence "The Unsinkable Ship). But when the hull was pierced by the iceberg, one compartment too many was flooded
The sinking of Titanic was not the Captains fault. The British Inquiry, which was tainted by shipping interests, did assign some blame to the dead person but the sinking overall was a one-in-a-million chance.
Captain Edward John Smith was mildly scapegoated at the British Inquiry after the sinking of Titanic but it was only a matter of convenience to shift some blame to "the dead guy".
In truth, the crew were simply following the protocols of the day.
Captin Smith's part in the sinking was that he continued to go through the ice field at full speed, didn't take heed to the multiple ice warnings coming from other ships, did not have the crew properly trained to utilize the lifeboats on board, and behaved erratically as the ship was sinking. Inquiries after the sinking did not place blame on Smith, that there are a combination of factors that led to the disaster.
partly. but he was pressured on by the white star line owners to try to break the current speed record
Captain Smith was not party to any rumored plots to kill select passengers to eliminate their influence concerning some upcoming tax developments.
It was his fault techniclay, because he ordered to speed up the ship but he was unaware that there was an iceberg on the route so no it was not his fault
