No. Lincoln, the Republican candidate won 180 electoral votes and the election. The Democrats split over slavery. The Northerners nominated Stephen Douglas who won only Missouri, with 11 electoral votes. The Southern Democrat, John Breckenridge, got 72 votes, by winning 10 Southern states plus MD.
