Megalodon did exist. Their teeth were commonly found fossils for hundreds of years before it was discovered that they were actually the teeth of a giant shark. Before that, they thought that the teeth were the petrified tongues of dragons! Megalodon were sharks, that may have been up to 50 feet long, and who commonly hunted whales. They existed between 25 and 1.5 million years ago.

∙ 13y agoNo, it has been extinct for around 1.5 million years; humanity has only been around for about half a million years. Those that claim to have seen one either watched too many Horror movies or simply confused a great white shark (which is believed to look very similar, albeit much smaller).uhmm excuse but some sightings of big sharks with 40-60ft long can be a megalodon.(improved by deither v)

Some consider them extinct, though a few believe it's possible for a feww of the species to have survived.

∙ 13y agoMegalodon did exist between 23 and 2 million years ago. They were a huge shark species that grew about 67 ft long. They ate a variety of marine animals, but, because megalodon was so large, whales were an important part of their diet.
