Religion and faith are very different things. Religion is doing something religiously. Over and over again. Faith is believing. For an example believing in God you need faith because you can't really see him. But you know he is there. I have Faith that God is real. I don't know if this helps you at all, but I hope it does.

A:2

The difference between religion and faith is simply that one is supposed to lead to the other. Religion is expected to be the directions for finding faith. Faith is where the inner power comes from to make the impossible possible.

Answer:

Believing is casually trusting that something is true.

Faith is trusting something is true after having pursued its proof... and following that proof... transcending beyond mere believing, and coming to the conviction of "knowing" the truth.

An Answer

A belief is when you anticipate but cannot explain. Faith is when you need to explain, there is no question to be made

Addendum

I agree with that below, belief does not truly need evidence (at least undeniable, because in reality what is truly undeniable...see realism), more it needs the capacity of doubt. To that end, any action we desire we construct evidence towards it being fact. There is always doubt so any action will require faith. Without faith that what you have chosen is true then nothing will be true because nothing will happen. Without belief, we would not believe anything we here, nothing would be acknowledged as real. Nothing would matter.

Many consider faith to be belief without evidence as in 'leap of faith'

faith and believing go hand in hand, really. "faith is being sure of what you hope for, and certain of what you can't see" paraphrase of hebrews 11:1.

when you have faith, you believe, but The Bible says even the demon's believe that christ died and was resurrected, and yet, we don't see them going to heaven anytime soon. when you have faith, you know God can help you, not just that he rose again. Billy Graham said as the bible does "faith is like the wind. you may not directly see it, but you are certain that it is there."

some verses talking about faith:

James 1:3) 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.

(Hebrews 11:1) 1 Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen.

(Luke 7:50) 50 He said to the woman, ""Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.""

(Mark 16:16) 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who disbelieves will be condemned.

(Matthew 9:29) 29 Then he touched their eyes, saying, ""According to your faith be it done to you.""

(I John 5:4) 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith.

(I John 5:14) 14 This is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us.

(Ephesians 6:16) 16 above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one.

(James 1:6) 6 But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed.

(John 3:36) 36 One who believes in the Son has eternal life, but one who disobeys the Son won't see life, but the wrath of God remains on him."

(Matthew 9:22) 22 But Jesus, turning around and seeing her, said, ""Daughter, cheer up! Your faith has made you well."" And the woman was made well from that hour.

(Hebrews 11:6) 6 Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him.

(Luke 17:6) 6 The Lord said, ""If you had faith like a grain of Mustard Seed, you would tell this sycamore tree, 'Be uprooted, and be planted in the sea,' and it would obey you.

a bit much i wrote there, but just a 14 yr old's two-cents on the matter and God's, straight from his book (:

For most Christians I have heard/read, 'Faith' seems indistinguishable from 'hope', 'belief', or 'trust'. However Paul is clear; 'Faith is the Substance (Hypostasis!) of things hoped for, the Evidence of things not seen'. 'Hypostasis' is the 'Ding an Sich', the thing as it really is, apart from and prior to its characteristics or qualities. It is therefore (according to Paul, at least) as different from hope, belief and trust as you can get. It is absolute certainty based on the evidence of living experience.

'Belief' is the model, hypothesis, or explanation one adopts - either as the best explanation for observed events or - (more frequently) that adopted in order to give oneself permission to behave the way one wants to. That is, one adopts or retains a belief because it enables a fulfilling experience or prohibits an undesirable one, and the belief withers if/when it no longer serves a useful purpose. It is reinforced by behaviour patterns that confirm the hypothesis (as opposed to the scientific method, which, through experiment, seeks the contrary).

What is the difference between faith and trust?

Biblically, none. In modern use, some interpret the words differently--not understanding that true faith in Christ includes our concept of trust--that we must trust Him alone for salvation and grace and not our own works. Belief alone is not enough for: James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
